When it came to building his own bikes, Rod's 30 years of BMX racing, mountain biking and guiding bike tours through the French Alps taught him the importance of quality components.  Rod scoured the world and spent over 2 years testing, trailing, and rebuilding until he was satisfied with several models. Models that are reliable, consistent, and fast like the LLEVANT wind.

LLEVANT (The Levant, Levante) which is based on an easterly wind that blows in the Mediterranean Sea and southern Spain, an example of mountain-gap wind. In the western Mediterranean, particularly when the wind blows through the Strait of Gibraltar it forms a majestic cloud that rises and flows over the Island of Gibraltar. Rod and Corinne lived in Tarifa, Spain back in 2004, in which Rod enjoyed many hours Kite Surfing the LLLEVANT wind.

Rod & Corinne started LLEVANT 2014, specializing in Custom Built All-Season/All-Terrain Carbon Hardtail & Full Suspension Mountain Bikes, then progressing to Fat/Plus Bikes, and then onto their E-Mountain Bikes. After moving to Cromwell Central Otago in 2017 they started CHP Bike Rentals in 2018, stocking their own E-Mountain Bikes, and from the reviews to date are very grateful that so many customers have enjoyed riding quality bikes, matched by the awesome network of local trails, amazing Central Otago scenery, and quality service. They are proud to be a New Zealand owned and operated business dedicated to bringing customers a quality cycling experience.
